Keenan Center For Entrepreneurship Le Moyne College

Syracuse, NY

THE PROJECT

This project was designed to create a 4,336-square-foot entrepreneurial incubator and makerspace within an existing area of a campus building housing the Le Moyne College Bookstore. The entrepreneurship space provides collaborative lounges and diverse work areas to fully support student ideas through start-up, development, networking, and marketing. Additionally, offices for program directors and the entrepreneur-in-residence (EIR) are centrally located to assist the collaborative environment. The makerspace portion offers a virtual reality lab, a makerspace design lab with 3-D printing, a computer aided manufacturing (CAM) lab, woodshop and finishing room, and storage for bulk materials. Both programs share formal and informal collaborative spaces that support in-person and remote learning, seminars and networking events, and encourage spontaneous discussion of ideas among peers. A folding glass partition, full height marker board wall and modular furniture allow the collaborative shared spaces to be easily reconfigured for varying user needs and group sizes.
