THE PROJECT

The scope of this project included the restoration of the façade of the National Register 1908 portion of the Archbold Gymnasium. Following extensive documentation, work included removal of masonry covering from the original iron frame, repair of 1947 fire damage to the iron, and restoration of the brick and terra-cotta façade. Nearly 1,000 individual pieces of terra-cotta were replicated and installed exactly matching the original pieces. Fire escapes were removed and the existing openings restored. A reproduction of the original terra-cotta coping was designed to replace the 1960s brown brick coping
