Symphony Place Apartments

Syracuse, NY

THE PROJECT

Built in 1980, Symphony Place was originally built as a 15-story tower annex to the Hotel Syracuse. It was connected to the hotel via a bridge over Onondaga Street, which was removed as part of the hotel’s 2015 restoration. During this 2024 tower renovation, the damage from the bridge removal was repaired, and 75 market-rate apartments were created with 43,000 sf of retail/office space on the first and second floors. In addition, the southeastern, one-story wing was removed to create a new street-level entry and lobby space oriented to a new entry drive and porte cochère to the south. A new HKK-designed daycare center occupies a portion of the first-floor retail space. The renovated interior consists of 29 one-bedroom units and 46 two-bedroom units providing high-end finishes and sweeping views of the downtown Syracuse skyline. Amenities include in-apartment laundry, a fitness center and on-site concierge. HKK’s services included architecture, planning and zoning, and interior design.
